VECOTRAS HEADQUARTERS

REFURBISHMENT AND COMMISSIONING OF THE INDUSTRIAL FACILITY

VECOTRAS HEADQUARTERS

The project

The project covered architectural, functional and building services design for the refurbishment and commissioning of an industrial facility in Anagni, in the province of Frosinone. The facility lies in the ASI industrial zone outside the town centre, close to the A1 Rome–Naples motorway. Disused for approximately ten years, the property consists of a main prefabricated industrial hall and an office building. Internally, the hall has no partitions and is clear of materials and equipment. Changing rooms and toilets are located on the ground floor beside the office block. The flat roof also uses precast prestressed concrete elements, alternating with translucent panels for daylight, arranged in rows of three rooflights per bay. An internal reinforced-concrete staircase provides vertical circulation between the production area and office block.

Design

The industrial building refurbishment provides workshop areas for the manufacture and production of special-purpose vehicles (hearses) and related facilities, including offices, toilets, changing rooms and a staff dining room. A new functional layout will be created through internal refurbishment of the existing structure and external works, including vegetation clearance and cleaning of the land south of the building. Part of the entrance yard surfacing will be reinstated to define the new vehicle access and internal circulation. The industrial building has a gross floor area of 4,400 m², an approximate height of 10 m and a volume of 44,000 m³. The external area is approximately 23,450 m². Building works will renew and replace non-structural components, improve sanitary facilities, upgrade services and enhance the building’s technology. Internal changes include redistribution of functional spaces, demolition of partitions and installation of new plasterboard partitions and suspended ceilings.
